The exhibition launches our 2014 programme which celebrates Wysing's 25th birthday and is a group exhibition of new commissions by artists who worked at Wysing during 2013: Anna Barham, James Beckett, Keren Cytter, Cécile B. Evans, Michael Dean, Gustav Metzger, Rupert Norfolk, David Osbaldeston, Seb Patane, Charlotte Prodger and Florian Roithmayr.
Wysing Arts Centre is a progressive arts organisation that has been the springboard for many successful artists over the years, including 2012 and 2013 Turner Prize winners Elizabeth Price and Laure Provost.Wysing is one of Europe’s leading visual arts centres, and provides alternative environments and structures for artistic research, experimentation, discovery and production, out of which emerges an ongoing programme of exhibitions, public events, family and schools activity. The 11 acre site near Cambridge includes a gallery, education and media facilities, artists' studios, project spaces and a 17th century farmhouse.
As part of the 25th birthday celebrations an ambitious capital refurbishment is planned which will ensure the future sustainability of Wysing for artists and audiences through innovative retro-fitting to improve energy efficiency and reduce costs, improvements to site facilities to increase earned income, and alterations to buildings and landscaping to improve accessibility. This exciting project is part of the major initiative Cambridge Retrofit. We would be delighted to share more about this with you at this event.
The event will include a tour of the exhibition, led by Wysing Curator, Gareth Bell-Jones, a visit to two studios of artists who are based at Wysing and an introduction to our 25th Birthday Plans. We very much hope you are able to join us for what will be an enlightening event. If you require assistance with transport then please do let us know. We look forward to welcoming you to Wysing.
