Could you join UKESF and Go4SET in making a difference, capturing talent and bringing electronics to life for our young people?
Following the successful 2012/13 pilot of the UKESF-Go4SET Project “Our Electronics Environment” in the Southwest, a Go4SET hub is being established in the East of England, centred on Cambridge. It is due to launch in January.
The project invites students to investigate the role electronics played in our lives 50 years ago and to devise smart electronic solutions to problems identified by their schools before predicting what might be possible five years into the future.
The broad brief enables a range of employers to participate and some Cambridge Network members are already involved. However, more companies are sought to sponsor Go4SET teams in this regional challenge. The scheme costs £850 + VAT to sponsor one school team.

Company mentors are key members of Go4SET teams. The mentor supports the students and their teacher in a team throughout the project and acts as a STEM role model, allowing students to find out more about individual career pathways within this industry. The experience makes a valuable contribution to the mentor’s CPD.
Engaging and contemporary, the UKESF-Go4SET Project demonstrates the relevance of STEM subjects in the schools’ curriculum to careers in electronics. It provides the opportunity for students to
- develop their research skills
- experience the stimulation of an open-ended challenge
- be creative and innovative
- experience practical hands-on electronics.
