The awards were held at the UKSPA/S-Labs conference in York, where over 700 delegates gathered to share knowledge about the design and operation of research laboratories, incubators and science park facilities.
Creative Places, niche advisers on research/commercial R&D real estate delivery, beat off stiff competition to take the award for Best Project, sponsored by the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP). The award recognised the organisation’s work in support of CBC developers Liberty Property Trust and Countryside Properties, Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and private landowners in bringing forward the development over the last 20 years. Delivery of the project has involved over £40M of infrastructure investment and £500M of property investment. The Creative Places team collected the award from Luis Sanz, chair of IASP.
Jonathan Burroughs, CEO, said: “Our success is down to a lot of hard work, both from our side and the wider development and stakeholder team. Working together collaboratively has helped to make Cambridge Biomedical Campus a world leading location for academic, clinical and business excellence in healthcare advancement.”
Andrew Blevins, MD of Liberty Property Trust, commented: “Creative Places’ specialist knowledge of the life sciences R&D sector and in particular the Cambridge cluster, help us make compelling business/science led cases for organisations to locate at the Campus and benefit from the many collaborations that are on offer there."
