Pupils of Dame Bradbury's, which is part of the Stephen Perse Foundation, voted to make the RNLI their charity of the year and came up with a number of activities related to some of the work they do.
All pupils were dressed up in red, white and blue to represent the charity colours and many created fantastic lifeboats of their own with junk and recyclable materials, which were tested for their floating abilities by dropping weights inside them and seeing how long they would stay above the water.
Outside, throwing skills were put to the test with welly wanging - with some wellies flying across the grounds... and others flying over the fence!
Meanwhile, lifesaving skills were being put to the test in the hall with a Coastguard relay race - pupils raced to put on their wellies and hi-vis jackets before crawling through a tunnel and towing back the person they needed to rescue.
Pupils made a small donation to take part in each of the events and the total will be given to the RNLI to fund their lifesaving work on the seas and in water safety education.
Tracy Handford, Head of Dame Bradbury's, said: "Whilst cake sales are exceptionally enjoyable, the pupils at Dame Bradbury's are encouraged to be creative in their support of charities and importantly raise awareness of the work the charity carries out.
"Pupils had a great day taking part in activities which linked to the charity and raised £307, all of which will go to the RNLI to continue to great work they do."
In the past, Dame Bradbury's has supported the Guide Dogs charity, Essex Air Ambulance, Starlight, and Link to Hope, filling Christmas boxes for families in Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova and Ukraine.
