Demystifying quantum careers: Riverlane leads key recruitment event with Cambridge Network

Cambridge, UK – Quantum computing company Riverlane has been announced as the headline sponsor of the upcoming “Demystifying Quantum: Charting New Paths in Tech” Candidate Evening, hosted by Cambridge Network. The event will take place on 19th September 2025 at 6 pm, at the PostDoc Centre, Eddington, Cambridge.

Riverlane’s mission is to make quantum computing useful, sooner. To achieve this, Riverlane is building Deltaflow - the Quantum Error Correction Stack to comprehensively correct the millions of data errors that prevent today’s quantum computers from achieving useful scale. Its role as headline sponsor reflects a strong commitment to driving technical innovation and attracting exceptional talent. As Riverlane continues to scale, it is actively recruiting across a broad range of technical disciplines. Crucially, engineering candidates do not always need a background in quantum computing. Riverlane welcomes applicants with transferable skills from fields such as classical computing engineering, physics, and mathematics, recognising the value of diverse experience in solving complex technical challenges.

Marco Ghibaudi, VP of Engineering at Riverlane, said:

“Quantum computing is the defining challenge of this century — one of the most complex technologies ever built — and we need the world’s best engineers to help make it useful, sooner. At Riverlane, we welcome talent without a background in quantum, as classical and quantum engineering have more in common than you might think. The future of computing is in quantum. Now is the time for classical hardware and software engineers to make the switch and help shape what’s next.”

Riverlane is particularly interested in meeting hardware engineers, including Digital Design (FPGA) Engineers and Verification Engineers, as well as software engineers, including Compiler Engineers, Embedded Software Engineers, System Software Engineers, Modelling Engineers, System Test Engineers, and Open-Source Software Engineers.  As well as Field Applications Engineers (with either a background in digital design or embedded software).

A culture built on trust, diversity and impact

With a team representing over 20 nationalities, Riverlane blends a mission-driven, research-led approach with a supportive, diverse, and flexible working environment. It’s a culture built on trust and empowerment, where teams are encouraged to excel and collaborate across disciplines. The company is also actively strengthening its commitment to diversity and inclusion, with targeted efforts such as increasing female representation in technical roles.

Glassdoor reviews consistently rate Riverlane’s culture and values at 4.9/5, and work/life balance at 4.8/5. The company was also named Employer of the Year at the 2024 Cambridge Tech Awards.

Claire Angus, Head of Recruitment & Account Management at Cambridge Network, said:

“We’re delighted to have Riverlane as headline sponsors for our September Candidate Recruitment Evening. Their opening talk, ‘Demystifying Quantum – New Paths in Tech,’ sets the tone for an event focused on transferable skills, and Riverlane’s commitment to investing in people makes them an ideal partner as we connect local job seekers with new opportunities in the tech sector.”

Job seekers will have the opportunity to hear from Riverlane experienced hardware engineers, software developers, early-career talent, and people leaders as they bust myths about breaking into the quantum tech field in an evening panel discussion. Attendees can also connect with other exhibiting companies, including Domino Printing Sciences plc.

In addition to company introductions, the event will feature two bookable workshops:

  • Build Your Brand: CV, LinkedIn & Transferable Skills Strategy with EA First
  • Turning Career Advice Into Action: Unlocking Personal Insight and Confidence with Enkindle Success
