Dr Rashid Zaman joins Salus Wellness Clinic

Dr Rashid Zaman BSc (Hons) MBBChir (Cantab), DGM MRCGP MRCPsych FRCPsych, a highly experienced Consultant Psychiatrist, has joined the Salus Wellness Clinic.

Dr Zaman will be pleased to assess and treat individuals aged between 17-65 years experiencing mental health problems such as Adult ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Phobias, Schizophrenia/Psychosis and Stress related mental health problems.

Over the past 20 years, he has combined academic activities (teaching and research) with extensive clinical practice largely in the NHS, having helped individuals with wide ranging mental health conditions.

Utilizing his interest and experience in forensic psychiatry, he has also worked with legal firms and courts to prepare numerous medico-legal reports.

His extensive experience and positive standing amongst colleagues and patients has led colleagues to regularly seek his opinion on the management of complex mental health issues and earned him number Clinical Excellence awards over the years within the NHS.

Mental health problems often have underlying medical, psychological and social issues (alone or in combination) and are best helped by careful exploration and comprehensive management.  Dr Zaman, with his extensive experience, effective listening skills, empathetic approach and up to date knowledge of current evidence-based treatments will help to address your mental health difficulties.

Dr Zaman graduated in medicine from University of Cambridge, initially training in General Practice, which he followed with specialist training in Psychiatry at Charing Cross &

St Mary’s Hospitals in London. Prior to being appointed as Consultant Psychiatrist in NHS in 2001, he held Lecturer position in Psychiatry in Imperial College, University of London.

His current positions include:

  • Consultant Psychiatrist
  • Associate Lecturer, University of Cambridge.
  • Director of Bedfordshire Centre for Mental Health Research in association with Cambridge University (www.bcmhr-cu.org). This centre organizes Cambridge Biennial International Conference in Mental Health.
  • Member of the Executive Committee of the Faculty of General Psychiatry of Royal College of Psychiatrist, UK.
  • Examiner for both the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK) and University of Cambridge.
  • Associate Fellow of The Higher Education Academy (AFHEA)

Dr Zaman has held the position of Adjunct Professor at Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic (2014-15).  He was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2013.

He has authored Churchill’s Pocketbook of Psychiatry and many academic papers (Currently over 160) in peer reviewed journals. Please check his ResearchGate Profile and his Cambridge Neuroscience Profile.

Dr Zaman has lectured widely at national and international conferences.

His research interests include, Adult ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, OCD, Schizophrenia / Psychosis and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) in psychiatry.

The initial assessment is likely to take between 1.5-2 hours, followed by (if needed) two to four shorter treatment reviews (usually 30-45 minutes) until your care is discharged back to your GP or for further therapy, referral to a psychologist if required.
