During the improvement work on the M11 northbound exit slip road at Madingley, there were three cases of the public ignoring closures.
The resurfacing work on the northbound exit slip of junction 13 on the M11 (Madingley Road) is taking place over the next four weekends, Friday night to Monday morning until the end of February working between 10pm and 5am.
Highways England, Service Delivery Team Leader, Aran Nugent said: “Safety is Highways England’s top priority. We are concerned by the number of drivers choosing to ignore closures and putting their safety and the safety of others at risk.
“The improvements to the M11 are necessary to improve safety and are taking place over the weekend to minimise disruption for drivers.
“We have completed the first weekend and we’ve had a few incursions, which are extremely dangerous. We are putting measures in place to try and prevent this, but I’d urge drivers not to ignore the closures and use the diversion in place.”
There is a diversion in place to help your journey during these works. Northbound traffic will continue north on the M11 to junction 14 and head east on the A14 to junction 32, returning westbound on the A14 to the A428 and then to the entry slip from the A1303 where the diversion ends. Traffic wishing to return to the A1303 Madingley Road will continue to the Hardwick junction taking the exit and return east on the A428 to the Madingley exit slip, where the diversion ends.
There is a package of work on the A14 and M11 involving resurfacing, safety barrier renewal, bridge repairs, embankment repairs, replacing and installing new signs and replacing road markings in Cambridgeshire.
