Eagle confirms list of speakers for its 4th Eagle Symposium

Eagle, an expert provider of bioinformatics software and services across a wide range of the life science and other sectors, has confirmed its list of speakers for its Fourth Annual Symposium.

Representatives from across the pharmaceutical, plant science, consumer goods and wider bioinformatics industry will gather at the Babraham Research Campus in Cambridge on March 27th 2014 to discuss how big data can be used to its full potential. Some of the companies attending include Novartis, Roche and Bayer, as well as organisations like PLOS and Oxford University.

The Fourth Symposium is entitled “Bigger Than Data – Discover or Die” and it aims to address how, at a time when every advance in social, business and science creates yet even more data to process and analyse, we can keep on top of its proliferation and get the most out of it.

This year’s list of confirmed speakers includes:
•       Keynote: Cameron Neylon, PLOS
•       Mark Schreiber, Novartis
•       Martin Strahm, Roche
•       Aline Nink, Bayer
•       Anthony Rowe, Janssen
•       Fiona Neilsen, DNA Digest
•       Steve Gardner, Biolauncher
•       Susanna Sansonne, Oxford University
•       Arek Kasprzyk, San Raffaele Hospital

The speakers have been drawn from many varied fields in order to give delegates as broad a perspective as possible about the challenges facing the bioinformatics community and, more crucially, how they’re being addressed.

Richard Holland, Chief Business Officer of Eagle, said: “We are delighted to be able confirm our list of speakers for our Fourth Annual Symposium. The challenge of exploiting big data comes in two parts: physically connecting silos of data for effective mining, and making sense of the various experimental datasets available by analysing their metadata. Keeping on top of the amount of data being produced is essential for the long-term survival of the industry and the symposium will offer real-life sustainable solutions that the bioinformatics community can use.”

NB: Early-bird registration discounts of 20% are available until the end of January 2014.
