Poland, UAE, the Czech Republic, Qatar and Egypt, along with India and Canada, showed growth in this region in the three months to September 2015 according to the latest figures from HMRC. Overall Germany, the USA, Ireland, France and the Netherlands were the largest export markets for this region in 2015.
Says UKTI East Regional Director Alan Pain: “While the United States and Western Europe continue to be our largest export markets, these other countries are showing significant growth in all types of business areas from the supply of parking meters in Egypt to high quality cider in the Czech Republic. Companies wanting to expand their business overseas should definitely be thinking about these parts of the world. ”
Elsworth papercraft company Mamelock is exploring opportunities in Eastern Europe following a successful visit to a British themed Christmas fair in Budapest. “It was a good event for us as it enabled us to road test our products and evaluate pricing levels for Hungary. says Mamelock Director Philip Saich. “The visit to Budapest has shown us the value of sales trips and the need to have our products accessible to the public wherever possible.
