Whittlebury Hall Hotel and Spa is a 4-star hotel in Northamptonshire and is the closest hotel to the world famous Silverstone Circuit. Every year during the British Grand Prix the venue transforms its facilities and golf course into a 3000 pitch campsite. Ely Aviation was commissioned to film this spectacular event from the air to showcase the fantastic location and facilities.
This was by no means a straightforward job. The circuit has a heliport that is active from 8 am onwards, and restricted airspace comes into play. Flying a drone in these circumstances would normally be a very hazardous activity
He continued, “We liaised with the air traffic control unit regarding the use of the airspace and agreed a window of 6am-8am whereby we would be allowed to operate. This meant we had a very early start, leaving our office at 4 am! But we got the job done and the results were beautiful
