The drone industry is expected to be huge over the next 10 years, with new uses for this amazing technology being discovered every day. Cambridge has long been a centre of this innovation, acting as the hub for Amazon's drone delivery lab. It was this, and a long-term love of flying multirotor drones that led to Cambridge-based entrepreneur Ian Titchener setting up Ely Aviation Ltd.
Ian commented: "Drone technology has immense potential to change the world for the better. We have set up Ely Aviation to offer clients a range of services that will save them time, money and effort. Whereas in years gone by you would have to hire a helicopter to perform a large scale aerial inspection, or hire somebody to climb onto the roof of your structure, we can do it in a fraction of the time, for less money and far safer, all thanks to this amazing technology."
He continued: "We are qualified professionals and hold a Permission for Commercial Operation from the Civil Aviation Authority. Many cowboy operators do not have this in place and are breaking the law by carrying out any paid work without it. Anyone considering using a drone operator should always ask to inspect valid permissions and a valid insurance document."
