Grahame Nix, Chief Executive of the GCGP (LEP), headed out to Brussels to meet with MEPs, EU policy makers responsible for transport, research and innovation, and regional policy to promote the GCGP area, as well as UKTI Benelux to build trade relationships.
Grahame explains: “Having submitted both our Strategic Economic Plan and European Structural Investment Fund Strategy to Government, there is no better time to come to Brussels to raise awareness of the potential to deliver innovative new projects within the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough area.
“As a LEP we are already in the driving seat to direct our EU structural funding towards projects that will deliver growth and jobs. My trip today is about building on this further and attracting EU funding for research and innovation to support our SMEs in key sectors. By raising our profile in Brussels and building understanding of our ambitions, GCGP intends to both secure investment and build trade relationships in the Benelux area.”
Grahame Nix will be meeting with policy makers from the European Commission. He will also meet with as well as MEPs.
The LEP’s European Structural and Investment Fund Strategy is due to be finalised with Government by the summer.
