Global head-hunter David Sneddon has been recruited from a specialist London firm to lead Cooper Lomaz Executive, which will focus on challenging, board-level appointments, attracting salaries of £80k-plus.
“Many businesses are looking at their senior management structure to make sure they have the best people in place to take advantage of the recovery in the economy,” said Cooper Lomaz Operations Director Mark Fletcher.
The new division will be quite different from, but complementary to, existing Cooper Lomaz operations, which have 14 consultants working exclusively in Cambridge.
“Cooper Lomaz has a fantastic relationship with our client companies. They love our brand; they love what we do for them at a general recruitment level,” said Mr Fletcher. “We are proud to be in a position to build on that relationship and provide a bespoke, proactive C-Suite service clients may previously have gone to a London headhunter for.”
“At this level, confidentiality is everything. The organisations Cooper Lomaz works with across Cambridge already know they can trust us implicitly,” said Mr Fletcher.
“A highly-trained and dedicated specialist Cooper Lomaz team will be retained by a client to work with them over a period of weeks or months to find the highest-calibre candidate to fill a key post such as chief executive, managing director or operations director.”
It is, said Mr Fletcher, an exciting development for Cooper Lomaz, combining the talents of experienced global recruiter David Sneddon with all that’s best about the consultancy’s unique reach and presence in East Anglia.
Sales Director Richard Mould, who will have overall responsibility for Cooper Lomaz Executive, said discretion and sensitivity are paramount.
“There are many sound business reasons why companies do not want it to be known they are looking for a new leader. Similarly, potential candidates do not usually want it known they are considering moving from their current roles,” he said.
Mr Mould reinforced that the new offering will be very much a bespoke service.
“No two contracts will be the same. We will work with the client to prepare a campaign mandate, using a methodology agreed with them and tailored specifically to their needs. Our focus will be to identify the very best individual to fill a specific senior role – whether he or she is actively seeking a new position or not. It will then be our mission, working hand-in-hand with our client, to make that appointment happen,” said Mr Mould.
“Cooper Lomaz Executive will spearhead the search for exceptional candidates, draw up shortlists as required and organise interviews, through to managing the offer and on-boarding process.”
“Our client companies now have no need to approach London head-hunters when they need to recruit for board level positions because Cooper Lomaz has the infrastructure and the contact network in place to provide the professional, discreet and focussed service they demand,” said Mr Mould.
“Because clients have worked with us to meet their general recruitment requirements over the years, they know they can trust Cooper Lomaz to deliver.”
David Sneddon, who is heading up the new division, has 20 years’ expertise in the industry. The past five years have being exclusively dedicated to high-powered, top-end executive recruitment.
Mr Sneddon’s previous role has involved casting a worldwide net to meet the challenging requirements of household name companies in the purchasing and supply chain sectors, particularly in the areas of aerospace & defence and technology & telecoms.
He has provided recruitment solutions for blue chip businesses such as Cathay Pacific, Lufthansa, Apple Europe, Vodafone, Fujitsu and FedEx, regularly recruiting executives to £200k-plus posts.
“I’ve always worked in niche areas, specialising in delivering exceptional people at a very senior level to global companies,” he said.
“Over the years I’ve been very impressed with the reputation that Cooper Lomaz enjoys as a market-leader in the recruitment industry. When my wife and I felt the time was right to move to East Anglia for family reasons, I targeted Cooper Lomaz as the company I wanted to work for,” said keen sportsman Mr Sneddon, who is looking forward to playing some of the region’s many fine golf courses.
