EY appoints Adrian Bennett to support growth across the East of England

EY has welcomed partner Adrian Bennett to its East of England assurance team, to help support growth in the Cambridge office and across the wider region.

Adrian Bennett

Based in Cambridge for many years, Adrian has 20 years’ experience working in the ‘big four’ advising tech and life science business. He has a broad range of experience and is well placed to support growing businesses having worked with both large FTSE-listed companies alongside smaller, private, fast growing tech and life sciences companies. He joins EY during a period of expansion for the East of England office, as the team looks to cater for increased client activity in the mid-market space.

He said: “I’m delighted to have joined EY in Cambridge at a time when there is a real focus on creating more visibility of our capabilities to support the needs of our clients, and in particular a strong desire to work with more privately-owned and fast growing businesses across the East of England. The region has a diverse and dynamic business landscape that continues to evolve as new technologies play a greater role in driving growth and change. Cambridge and its surrounding area is a vibrant community, led by businesses involved in world-class innovation.

“My experience in the tech and life-sciences sectors provides me with a valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities businesses are facing in these markets and I look forward to working with our team in Cambridge to serve our clients and grow our business.”

Also helping to support growth at EY in Cambridge is director James Turner, who has returned to the office following three years with the London tax team, supporting companies looking to outsource both their tax compliance activities and back office financial processes.

James previously spent over 10 years working with the EY tax team in Cambridge and will be returning with a particular focus on the breadth of services the business can provide for clients to help them meet their global compliance and reporting needs, including Payroll, Corporation tax, VAT and accounts prep.

Stuart Wilkinson, Office Managing Partner at EY in Cambridge added: “I’d like to welcome Adrian to the team. His appointment is fantastic news as it will help us to continue to build on our strong foundations, working with privately-owned businesses across the East of England and supporting them with their growth aspirations. His arrival will also complement a range of other senior appointments we have been making in Cambridge recently. I’m also incredibly pleased to be welcoming James back following his time in the London tax team. His expertise gained during the last three years, will further help us to support clients in a broad range of tax specific activities.

“The last few months have been a challenge for businesses and business owners, affected by the COVID-19 pandemic across the country. The East of England is known as much for its strong heritage in traditional sectors, such as Agriculture/Agri-tech, as it is for its innovative research and development in the pharmaceutical industries. Due to the nature of these sectors, we are confident that new opportunities will emerge out of the transition to the ‘new norm’ post-COVID.”
