The awards, due to take place in spring, showcase the finest talent across a range of science and technology sectors. Now in their sixth year, they have developed a reputation for highlighting extraordinary achievements.

Editor Paul Brackley said: “When we established the awards in 2017, we were delighted with the response. Since then, the awards have grown year on year into a real highlight of the calendar. We know from feedback that winning a Cambridge Independent Science and Technology Award is not only a welcome pat on the back for employees, but can prove beneficial in many ways, from attracting new staff to securing new customers or partnerships – and can even help open the door to investment.

“It’s been wonderful to see the entries coming in this year, and our panel looks forward to judging them.”

It is free to enter via the online form. You can find the description of categories, the rules and details of the sponsors on the awards page, as well as previous winners.

Categories range from the Kao Data-sponsored Start-up of the Year through to Life Science Company of the Year, supported by Zyme Communications. Cambridge Science Park is backing our STEM Initiative of the Year category, which is open to all – including companies, organisations, schools and individuals. It highlights efforts to open up careers in STEM or engagement of science and technology in the broader population.

There are two categories for individuals - Researcher of the Year, sponsored by AstraZeneca, and CEO of the Year, won last year by Mark Kotter, of bit.bio. Individuals can nominate themselves or be nominated by others.

Employers can showcase what they have to offer by entering the COEL-sponsored Employer of the Year category, while the Entrepreneurship Centre at Cambridge Judge Business School is again backing the Enterprise Skills Award for employers that show commitment to training for their scientific and technical staff.

Chesterford Research Park is returning to sponsor the AI Company of the Year.

Shane Townsend, Chesterford Research Park manager, said: “With a number of previous award winners and highly commended participants located at Chesterford Research Park, we are lucky enough witness first-hand the ground-breaking work taking place both here and across the Cambridge cluster every day.

“It is a privilege to be able to support these innovators and entrepreneurs as they strive to make a difference to the health of future generations via the latest life science and technology advancements. We are equally proud to sponsor the Cambridge Independent Science and Technology awards, which highlights the best of the best across Cambridge, shining a light on the exceptional organisations and people that really make the cluster tick."

Companies can enter as many categories as they like, either via a single form, or by entering more than one form to tailor their entry to the category. Please notify us of any confidential information in the form.
