TWI Innovation Partner Matching and Brokerage Workshop: AI, Data and Robotics for Industry takes place on Wednesday 11 August, 09.00-12.00 BST.

This half day event is the second in a series of workshops focused on the EU’s €95 billion Horizon Europe funding programme.

TWI and its Innovation Network (TWIIN) are currently developing a wide range of projects designed to exploit the latest digital and emerging technologies.  Areas of focus include:

  • Manufacturing – zero-defects for zero-waste, artificial intelligence (AI) for sustainability and agility, new devices and technologies for bio-intelligent manufacturing

  • Construction – for the green economy, automated tools for the valorisation of construction waste

  • AI, data and robotics at work

  • Future electronics for the green and circular economies

The workshop will be led by TWI’s Technology Innovation Management team (TIM) who are highly experienced in all aspects of public funding – from identifying and addressing challenges and opportunities, concept development and consortium building – through to proposal writing, financial management and project bid submission.

They will be joined by representatives from TWI’s Innovation Centres who will give a series of pitches on the technology concepts they are working on.  The aim of the pitches is for delegates to identify whether there are any matches between their own company or organisation’s R&D activities and those of the Centres, with a view to creating new partnerships that can work collaboratively on publicly funded projects.

The morning will also include a choice of two simultaneous sessions on Horizon Europe – covering the current state-of-play, and ins and outs, dos and don’ts of working on collaborative, publicly funded projects – one for companies who have experience in this area and one for those who are complete beginners.

In addition, there will be networking sessions for delegates to discuss shared concepts, technology ideas and areas of interests with TWI technical experts and Innovation Centre representatives, and fellow attendees.

Completing the agenda for the workshop will be a presentation by Mert Uygun, Managing Director of 3Cell Innovative Solutions, multi-national telecom project providers, on collaborative working.

Please register for the event to secure your place.  The workshop is free to attend for TWI Industrial Members and TWI Innovation Network Platinum, Gold and Silver Subscribers.

For Non-members and non-subscribers, there is a fee of £50 + VAT (£60).  For Welding Institute Members there is a fee of  £25 + VAT (£30).

Laurence Robinson, TIM Team Manager said “Like the first workshop back in June this year, this next workshop has been tailored to correspond to upcoming opportunities for public funding.  These act as an enabler for getting new technologies, products, processes and systems off the ground, and moving them from concept through to proto-typing, testing and, ultimately, market readiness.”

“Therefore, I would urge anyone to attend whose company or organisation is committed to engineering and technology R&D, and sees new product development as a means of gaining competitive advantage” he added.
