First Aid course fees slashed to help more train in life-saving skills

Cambridge Regional College has cut the cost of its day-long first aid course for the workplace to just £85 to encourage more people to train in emergency life-saving skills.

New research shows that first aid training could help to prevent up to 60 per cent of deaths from injury – but a large number of people don’t feel able to administer first aid.

The British Red Cross, which commissioned the research from the University of Manchester, wants people to take action in the crucial minutes before an ambulance arrives – with the simplest intervention helping keep someone alive until they reach hospital.

CRC’s Emergency First Aid in the Workplace course covers key areas such as administering first aid to the unconscious, CPR in adults, children and babies, and dealing with choking, wounds, bleeding, shock and minor conditions.

With the cost reduced to £85 from the usual £140, the college hopes to encourage more people to gain the essential life-saving first aid skills.

The course is designed for employees who want to become an accredited first aider, and takes place on 6 October at CRC in King’s Hedges Road, Cambridge. To book, email training@camre.ac.uk or ring 01223 418778.
