Free civil engineering talks on offer

This year the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) is 200 years old. To celebrate it is offering free talks to local groups.

ICE has used the bicentenary as an opportunity to remind the general public that civil engineers transform their lives for the better and safeguard the future for their families. In doing so, the Institution also hopes to encourage young people to see civil engineering as a creative, rewarding and highly enjoyable career. To this end members are encouraged to visit local groups and talk about their work. The talks are free and can be tailored to the group for instance anything from road building, flood defences, bridges and railways, civil engineering literally surrounds us.

Local groups interested in hosting a speaker can make contact by iceeastofengland@ice.org.uk
