Garden office company builds success during pandemic

A Cambridge garden room builder has seen orders go through the roof as more and more people decide to make working from home permanent.

AMC Garden Rooms – based in Foxton – was launched in May 2020 by the team behind AMC Exhibitions, a leading name in the exhibition and events industry.  While the exhibition sector has remained closed since March,  AMC has seen sales of their outdoor rooms soar. Now their workshop is busy constructing garden rooms instead of exhibition stands, and the company is even bucking the trend by employing additional staff to meet demand.

“Our order book is now full up to the end of 2020, and we’re starting to schedule installations during the first quarter of 2021”, says director Kate Martin.  “Things are tough for a lot of people right now, and it’s been immensely gratifying not just to be able to keep our staff employed during this time, but to be taking people on too”.

As well as employing additional staff, AMC Garden Rooms has built a show room on site in Foxton, where prospective customers can get a feel for how a garden room can add more space to their lives.

Garden offices are a simple and relatively inexpensive way to gain a bit of extra living space compared to an extension or loft conversion. The average price of a garden room from AMC is just £15,000 and most don’t require planning permission.  With internet access, power sockets,  full-insulation and double glazing they’re designed to be a fully functional workspaces to be used all year round. And with lead times of about two months it’s also a pretty quick way to secure that much needed extra space.
