All NHS Foundation Trusts are accountable to their local community. CUH has over 19,000 members consisting of patients, the public and staff, who elect the Board of Governors.
Julia Loudon, Lead Governor at CUH, said: “Being a governor is an exciting opportunity for people to contribute to their local community and represent those who use Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie hospitals.
“Governors have a say in decisions made at the Trust and play an important role in making the Trust publicly accountable for the services it provides, ensuring it delivers safe, kind and excellent care.
“Anyone can put themselves forward to be elected as a governor, they just need to be passionate about our hospital and the way that healthcare is delivered”.
Anyone who is a patient or has been one in the past, or the carer of a patient can stand as a patient governor. If you’ve not been a patient or carer of a patient, but live in the catchment area you can apply to be a public governor.

There are ten positions available on the Board of Governors: Two for staff, four for patients and four for members of the public.
Catchment areas include: All Wards from Cambridge City Council, South Cambridgeshire District Council and East Cambridgeshire District Council; selected wards from Uttlesford District Council, East Hertfordshire District Council, North Hertfordshire District Council, St. Edmundsbury Borough Council, Forest Heath District Council and Braintree.
