Global boost for East of England firms: Cash injection for local exporters

East of England firms are getting even more help to boost their fortunes. UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) East of England have announced eight new International Trade Advisers (ITAs) and up to £3k matched funding to support regional businesses to succeed overseas.

The new advisers offer over 150 years of export experience, ranging from education expertise to Middle-Eastern tractor know how, and from former business owners to major players for important firms, and take the total number of advisers for the East of England up to 33.

Liz Basing, East of England Regional Director for UKTI said: “UKTI’s locally based advisers are one of the cornerstones of our service offering expert non-biased face-to-face advice rooted in years of experience managing the international marketing and sales of large corporations and running their own global firms.

“East of England firms can take advantage of the fact that these experts are able to offer free advice to companies to help them explore new markets and identify opportunities to grow their business.

“We are striving to increase the number of exporters across the UK to help secure long term sustainable economic growth, and this increased investment is just one of the ways we are hoping to do it.”

Alongside this UKTI is offering any firm joining the flagship Passport to Export or Gateway to Global Growth programmes, or seeking to boost their web-based sales, matched funding of £3,000 to support their export plans.

Liz added: “This money could be a vital injection to local firms, helping them to begin a journey overseas which will see them realise the many benefits from exporting - from increased turnover to increased innovation.”

The new ITAs and extra money available to companies were announced in the Autumn Statement 2012: UKTI were awarded an extra £70 million to their annual budget from April 2013 for two years to recruit more advisers and expand existing services and help for UK companies to export.
