The Government has announced details of the new Episode 1 Fund, which has been set up to invest in the UK’s most promising early-stage technology enterprises.
The programme has a total budget of £37.5 million available for investment. This is a combination of £12.5 million worth of private investment, alongside the Government’s £25 million contribution.
Individual venture capital/equity deals of between £250,000 and £2 million will be made in 20 to 30 early-stage technology companies. The investments are intended to help businesses boost their operations, build up sales and possibly explore international trade.
The programme is open to applications from innovative entrepreneurs and small companies with operations in the UK, seeking up to £2 million in venture capital finance.
The business may be in its start-up or early stages and should be operating in the technology industry, which includes the software, internet and mobile sectors.
Applications may be submitted at any time.
