Half a million students’ critical data defended by Darktrace AI

Darktrace, the world leader in AI technology for cyber defence, has today announced that Education Service Center 11 (ESC 11) has deployed the Enterprise Immune System for AI cyber defence against sophisticated threats.

ESC 11 provides a variety of educational services to 70 school districts and 60 charter schools across Texas, and hosts the private information of over half a million students and over 30,000 educators. Powered by machine learning and AI algorithms, the Enterprise Immune System learns the ‘pattern of life’ for every user and device on ESC 11’s network and uses this dynamically updating understanding to detect known and unknown threats as they emerge.

“Darktrace has helped take our cyber defense to the next level,” said Paul Hauck, Senior Systems Engineer at ESC 11. “As a critical component to our overall defense-in-depth strategy, the Enterprise Immune System enables us to instantly remediate and respond to unfolding attacks, before they escalate into a crisis. Darktrace’s AI technology marks a step-change in detecting any potentially threatening activity lurking in our networks.”

“Educational organizations store large volumes of highly sensitive information on their networks,” commented Rob Sass, Managing Director, North America, Darktrace. “As fast-spreading and sophisticated breaches become more common, Darktrace arms institutions like ESC 11 with the cutting-edge AI and autonomous response technology they need to stay ahead of today’s pernicious cyber-threats.”
