They will be part of a delegation of over 70 British firms exhibiting at one of the world’s largest trade fairs, hoping to fill order books and build on existing flourishing business relationships.
Amongst the ‘Cambridge Cluster’ companies looking to showcase their talents to an audience from across the world are Cambridge Consultants, Granta Design and Webtec based in St Ives.
UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) is supporting the event with commercial officers from Germany, Austria, Hungary, Croatia and Serbia, who are experts in those markets and the business culture of each country.
UK companies exhibiting at Hannover Messe have had previous support from UKTI via the Trade Access Programme (TAP). This year, briefings and round table sessions will be hosted in UKTI’s own Business Lounge.
Hatfield-based Davall Gears who specialise in precision gears and gearboxes for the Aerospace, Medical and Defence sectors lead a set of Hertfordshire companies at the show, together with Huco Dynatork based in Hertford who produce innovative precision couplings.
Davall’s Managing Director Howard Marshall said: “The Spiradrive gear system will be on show on the Davall stand and we anticipate a lot of interest. As a result of contact established at Hannover we won a major contract to develop a bespoke Spiradrive Gearset on a European Defence project. We will soon be entering the production phase later in 2013.
“We also found a customer and now deliver 1200 Spiradrive gearboxes per year as a Tier 2 Supplier, ultimately to a German MRI Scanner manufacturer. We also won a major contract for Tail Rotor Bevel Gears for an Indian Helicopter manufacturer, and we now produce parts on a two yearly repeat basis.”
He went on: “Davall Gears started exhibiting at Hannover Messe in 2003 and have returned ever since. This will be our sixth event. It’s always a supercharged event for us, like the UK’s NEC - but on steroids! A meeting place for Europe’s leading businesses in whichever discipline they trade.”
Commenting on the level of interest for the show amongst companies from the East of England, UKTI’s Regional Director Liz Basing said: “In 2012 our region exported over £15bn of goods to EU countries, including £3.2bn to Germany, the second largest export market for our region.”
“But Hannover Messe is about much more than exporting to Germany alone. This year’s partner country is Russia, and as Lord Green said during his visit there in December last year, with 140 million Russian consumers looking for quality British products and services, it offers great opportunities for British businesses. “
