Seven Hewitsons’ employees took part in the physically testing Three Peaks Challenge, on Saturday 18th April, which saw the team work together to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon – all in just under 24 hours. The money raised for Chariots of Fire has made a fantastic start to this year’s fundraising efforts for the official charity, which will be announced at the launch of the 2015 charity race on the 13th May.
The Hewitsons team consisted of: Charities and Education Partner, Chris Knight; Senior Solicitor, Christopher Nuttall; Trainee Solicitors, Alex Turtle and Stephanie Dennis; Legal Secretary, Annette Lilly; Senior IT Administrator, Simon Marshall and Marketing Executive, Daniel Lawson.
The team began their challenge at 5:00pm on Saturday 18th April, when they started to climb Ben Nevis. The route up the mountain was steep, slippery and very bright due to the last mile to the top being snow covered, which made it increasingly difficult to make it over the mountain. By 3:43am the Hewitsons team were getting ready to make their way up Scafell Pike.
The last leg proved to be the most challenging as the group only had four hours to go when they arrived at the bottom of Snowdon. However, with a final push they completed the Three Peaks Challenge in under 24 hours.
Chris Knight commented: “We all worked really well as a team to get through this challenge and had great fun whilst doing it. We’re delighted to have raised such a healthy sum for this year’s Chariots of Fire race.”
Chariots of Fire will be officially launched next Wednesday (13th May), with the announcement of the chosen charity for 2015. The race will be held on Sunday 20th September and further details will be available soon.
