Planning permission has been secured for a hotel following a deal to acquire the two-acre site, alongside the Enterprise House office complex, from the property division of Stansted’s owner, Manchester Airports Group (MAG).
The 360-room hotel, due to open in the summer of 2017, will offer direct under-cover access to the airport terminal and will join the Hilton, Radisson Blu, Holiday Inn and Premier Inn hotels already operating at Stansted, bringing the total number of bedrooms on the site to more than 1,600.
Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, at Hilton Worldwide, said, “The introduction of Hampton by Hilton to London Stansted Airport is consistent with our strategy of developing focused service properties sufficiently close to the airport that guests can access the terminal without a shuttle bus”
Holst undertook detailed negotiations for the site acquisition and advised the investors as to hotel size and design. Holst also secured Interstate Hotels to manage the completed hotel under a franchise agreement for Hampton by Hilton.
Ian Williams, Holst Real Estate director said they advised on the entire process and are pleased with a successful acquisition and planning permission that will allow the project to proceed immediately.
Holst are currently advising investors and an international operator on undertaking a major hotel project in Cambridge, in addition to further hotel projects in Manchester, Edinburgh and Dublin.
