Howard Board members retire

Following a combined 50 years of involvement in the Howard Group, the retirement of Judith Howard and Martin Riley was marked at a dinner in Cambridge in the summer of 2013.

Judith has been actively involved in the business over many years as shareholder, director and company secretary and has been instrumental in the success of the business and the many developments during this time. We are delighted that Judith will be continuing her involvement as a shareholder and Chair of the Family Council. She will also continue to oversee the Airlite Finance business managing the Group’s portfolio of quoted investments.

Martin Riley has served over the past ten years as a Board Director and for the past five years as Chairman of Howard Ventures and Howard Investments. Martin joined the Group in 2002 following his retirement from Henderson Crosthwaite (now Investec) where he was a Director in their wealth management group. Martin has spearheaded many of the significant changes at Howard’s over the years, including the move to Cambridge in 2006. Martin will be continuing his involvement with the family remaining a member of the Family Council.

Nicholas Bewes, Group CEO, commented: “Both Martin and Judith have had a huge impact on the business over the years and have been a steadying influence on the Group. Their wisdom and experience in so many areas have been invaluable. We are delighted that they will both retain an on-going role within the business.”

Following these changes to the Board, Patrick Bushnell has become Chairman of the Board of Howard Investments. Patrick joined the Group as a non-executive Director in 2009 following his retirement from Henderson Global Investors.  Nicholas Bewes takes on the role of Chairman of Howard Ventures in addition to his role as CEO of the Group.
