Huppert welcomes grants for city gallery and museum

MP Julian Huppert has welcomed the news that Cambridge’s Fitzwilliam Museum and Kettle’s Yard gallery are to have a share of a £4.6 million grant package.

The grants, funded jointly by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and the Wolfson Foundation are designed to pay for renovation and improvement projects to enhance displays and increase access in 40 museums across the country.

Cambridge’s Kettle’s Yard receives £187,500 for the Kettle’s Yard: Looking Ahead project and the Fitzwilliam Museum receives £175,000 for the project Redisplaying the Renaissance.

Julian said: “I am delighted that both the Fitzwilliam Museum and Kettle’s Yard have been awarded these grants which are in recognition of the excellent work they do.

“We are so fortunate in Cambridge to have a wealth of treasures on display here and the range of exhibitions throughout the year means that residents and visitors alike are constantly offered something new.

“The grants will help to improve the displays even further and I hope everyone will take the opportunity to visit both these places to see what is on offer.”
