His first port of call was the Cambridge office of Mott MacDonald where he met with graduate civil engineers, technicians and their supervisory mentors. Afterwards he travelled to Ipswich to repeat the exercise at University College Suffolk.
ICE was founded in 1818 and is the professional institution for civil engineering qualifications including Chartership. One of Nick’s main aims is to simplify the membership process. Listening to the experienes of recently qualified members provides valuable feedback.
Nick took up his role in January 2012 and visits the region twice a year to meet members and hear their views. He said that it is all too easy to become remote at his Westminster base and he finds the visits immensely useful.
