IDS and Altia team up to provide GUI development workshops

UK engineers and computer scientists will have two opportunities next month to advance their skills in graphical user interface (GUI) design.

Intelligent Display Solutions (IDS) and Altia have teamed up to host two workshops that will provide hands-on training in the development of advanced GUIs.

The first opportunity will be at Thatcham, Berkshire on 12th April. The second will be at this year's UK Device Developers' Conference to be held near Cambridge on 28th April.

“In any modern day device, the quality, beauty and responsiveness of the display interface speaks volumes about the overall product,” said Julian Coates, Northern Europe Business Manager at Altia. “In this workshop, we will be sharing our knowledge and experience of GUI design. This will be a chance for developers to spend a day with one of the world’s leading experts in this field.”

Altia, Inc. is a software company that provides graphical user interface design and development tools that can be used from concept to final product code. Altia was founded in 1991 and its customers include Continental Automotive, Smiths Medical, Renault, Fiat, Medtronic, MTA, Johnson Controls, Rolls-Royce, DAF Trucks, Frazer-Nash, Diehl AKO Stiftung & Co. and hundreds of other leading manufacturers.

IDS was established in 2001 by a team of display industry experts. Over time they have built up a great deal of knowledge about both the technical approach and the user interface approach to designing displays using LCD, TFT and OLED technologies for many applications. IDS have helped develop innovative displays, enabling customers to enhance their products, with some even receiving awards for design and application.

"In this workshop attendees will experience model-based GUI development hands-on," said Adrian Amor, Director at IDS. "It will cover the complete cycle from graphics-importation, building and editing the GUI simulation-model, to generating and running the code on targets ranging from low-cost microcontrollers with no RTOS and minimal memory, to embedded Linux platforms, to standard PC-level Windows applications-platforms for early-stage design-validation. The workshop is intended for embedded-systems engineers who have already experienced some embedded GUI development challenges, and want to increase their knowledge of available development processes."

Both workshops will be presented by Rene Schumann, Altia’s European Technical Manager. For more information and to register for the Thatcham based workshop please click here or email info@altia.com

The UK Device Developers' Conference 2016 is an event for engineers and software developers working in the development of intelligent systems and devices, taking place near Cambridge on  27th and 28th April. To register for the GUI workshop at this event, please visit the Conference website.
