William shared anecdotes, tips and highlights from his career so far, including working with actor Sir Derek Jacobi and musician Keaton Henson, and how he has made documentaries, short films, music videos and commercials.

He recounted how he once filmed a music video on a beach which could have gone desperately wrong – he arrived the night before to find the area covered in fishermen’s tents, and he was left with a 15 minute window to get his filming done before the sun rose.

Encouraging students to follow in his career path, he said his personal journey has been a learning curve, including not being forced into styles of filming that weren’t right for him.

The next free talk at Cambridge TV School is on Friday 24 February with Ben Foakes of Base Media Cloud. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

Tickets are available via Eventbrite here.

Cambridge TV School is based at 15 Signet Court, Swann’s Road, Cambridge, CB5 8LA.
