IT Governance live webinar shares practical insights on penetration testing

IT Governance, the leading provider of information security and penetration testing services, will deliver a free, live webinar on ‘Cyber security: protecting your business with cost-effective penetration testing’.

This webinar comes in response to the 2017 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report (DBIR). The report is based on data from more than 42,000 security incidents and almost 2,000 breaches.

According to Verizon, although attackers are using new tactics and tricks, their overall strategies remain relatively unchanged. Understanding them is critical to knowing how to defend your organisation from cyber attacks. 88% of breaches fall into the nine patterns that were first identified by Verizon back in 2014.

Penetration testing has long been used to help prevent data breaches, to understand security weaknesses and to test security controls. But although many organisations understand the need for penetration testing, it can be harder to know how to fit them into a larger security programme, or even how to get started.

IT Governance’s penetration testing services help organisations of all sizes to effectively manage cyber security risk by identifying vulnerabilities that could lead to infrastructure, applications, wireless networks and people being attacked.

Alan Calder, the founder and executive chairman of IT Governance said: “Penetration testing is an essential component of any cyber security strategy. Many organisations find themselves struggling to cope with the ever-widening threat landscape and find the purchasing process for penetration testing services complicated and onerous.

“As a CREST-accredited provider of security penetration testing, IT Governance can effectively support organisations that haven’t previously purchased penetration testing services, through a simple, structured and tailored approach that helps organisations prioritise remediation and apply necessary security patches, and provides tangible results at a competitive price. The services will also provide organisations with practical solutions to meet legal, regulatory and contractual requirements.”

In this webinar, our penetration testing experts will share practical insights about implementing a penetration testing programme. Designed to inform information security professionals, the webinar will help you to conduct effective, value-for-money penetration testing as part of a technical security assurance framework.

Join IT Governance’s head of technical services to gain a practical introduction to penetration testing. Taking place on 9 November 2017 from 3:00 – 4:00 pm (GMT), this free webinar will cover:

  • How penetration testing can help prevent the top attack vectors behind breaches
  • The differences between a penetration test and a vulnerability assessment
  • Why penetration tests are vital to uncovering vulnerabilities before criminals do
  • How to address the general auditing aspects of regulations
  • How to conduct a penetration testing programme.

Viewers can submit questions throughout the webinar for the follow-on Q&A session.
