It Takes a City launches new website

It Takes a City, a Cambridge homelessness partnership, has launched a new website to provide businesses, third sector groups and the public with information on how to support those rough sleeping or at risk of homelessness.

It Takes a City is a charity that grew out of the Cambridge Summit on Homelessness in November 2018.

The team writes:

We needed a website that reflected the range of our work and provided visitors with clear information on how to support homeless people in the city.

The website was generously designed and built, pro bono, by Cambridge Creative following our call for help on LinkedIn.

Our aim is to convene, clarify and coordinate. We use action groups to focus on a specific issue, (women, young people, housing, business, etc). Each group includes those with lived experience, frontline workers, third sector organisations, and others with a shared interest in finding solutions that lead to sustained change. The How we help section of the website details all our areas of work, and how you can get involved.

The Need Help section directs visitors to Street Support Cambridgeshire, a website we launched in October 2019. It provides user-friendly information on services that support rough sleepers and the homeless, as well as ways that individuals can help.

During the pandemic we utilised our networks and resources to support the City Council’s response to keeping rough sleepers and other homeless people safe. We found suitable accommodation and coordinated support services at Masters House in Histon Road, and other locations. News and Events goes into detail about the incredible community response.

It Takes a City hopes the website will become a focus for those looking to support our homeless neighbours in Cambridge.
