Former footballer Cristiano Lucarelli and comedian and painter Dario Ballantini will share insights into their careers with Psychology students and the general public at events on 25 February and 19 March.
Lucarelli will deliver a talk and take part in a Q&A session on Monday, 25 February (11.30am-12.30pm) covering his playing career, which included six caps for the Italian national side, and his hopes of breaking into football management.
The 37-year-old former striker, who is now youth coach at Parma, was the leading scorer in Serie A in 2004-05 while playing for Livorno, his hometown club. His career also included spells at Napoli, Torino, Valencia and Shakhtar Donetsk.
Dr Roberto Filippi, Lecturer in Psychology at Anglia Ruskin, said: “A career change is always challenging for a professional footballer. Some of them radically change their profession, others decide to continue in the world of football and become managers. Cristiano wasn’t a typical footballer and he certainly won’t be a typical manager.”
Meanwhile Dario Ballantini, an actor and impersonator who has appeared since 2001 on the popular satirical TV news show Striscia la Notizia, will showcase his “split personality” on Tuesday, 19 March (6-8pm).
As well as being one of Italy’s most popular comedians, Ballantini is also a highly-successful painter, whose art has been displayed in galleries across Europe.
Dr Filippi added: “When I first met Dario I was charmed by his gentle kindness as a man and the extreme complexity of his art. I am pleased that he accepted our invitation which is a unique experience for our students to get in touch with the world of art and culture of another country.”

Anglia Ruskin University will be investigating the psychology of Italian celebrity with the visit of two high-profile figures to its Cambridge campus.
