SyndicateRoom co-founder Gonçalo Vasconcelos explained: “Our event, kindly hosted by our lawyers Taylor Vinters, was designed to give investors a feel for some of the companies raising funds through SyndicateRoom and the teams behind them before deciding to invest."
"It’s democratisation of investment gone mad! – the crowd having the unique opportunity to join highly experienced Business Angels in choosing their investments without any bankers involved.
"We had five awesome companies presenting, Psonar, a pay-as-you-go streaming music service; Eagle Genomics, a five year-old profitable ‘start-up’ in the hot sector of big data and bioinformatics with a top notch team; Soshi Games, an award winning mobile and online gaming company with over 500,000 downloads in the first two years; ShotClip – the company that makes anyone with a smartphone a movie maker and Captive Media, a company with an interactive advertising platform that sits above a urinal.
"I was also delighted that Adrian Rainey, tech-investment partner at Taylor Vinters who I work closely with gave a useful presentation on the subject of why investors’ protections matter in crowdfunding.”
The companies presenting were:
1) Martin Rigby, Psonar – Psonar is a pay-as-you-go streaming music service with great contracts with the major players in the industry in place.
2) David Flanders, Eagle Genomics – Five year-old profitable ‘start-up’ in the hot sector of big data and bioinformatics with a top notch team
3) Cliff Dennett, Soshi Games – “An award winning mobile and online gaming company with over 500,000 downloads in the first two years that won the tough backing of two institutional investors and several private investors, some of them in the room”
4) Gordon MacSween, Captive Media – a company with an interactive advertising platform that sits above a urinal! Featured on BBC, The Times, Wired and The Guardian amongst others and backed by a top UK Business Angel voted top 12 and top 22 angels in the UK by two different publications.
5) Conor McNally, ShotClip – A SEIS eligible company that makes anyone with a smartphone a movie maker.
