While most view a summer holiday as a chance to wind down, Jeff Massey will be cycling from Cambridgeshire to the Suffolk coast before he even thinks about relaxing.
Jeff will be raising money for disability charity Papworth Trust, while also promoting the charity’s work across the East of England and the fact it celebrates its 100th anniversary next year.
All in the space of one day, the 37-year-old from St Ives will start his gruelling ride on Monday from the charity’s head office in Papworth Everard before cycling to services in Bury St Edmunds and ending at the Waveney Centre in Lowestoft.
Jeff, the trusts and grants fundraising manager at the charity, said: “I have always wanted to visit the Suffolk coast and I thought this would be a different way to start the family holiday.
“I enjoy cycling and I did the Cambridge 100 miles’ event earlier this year. But this is the first time I have attempted this distance without an assigned route. There is a good cycle route for most of the way so I will be attempting that.
“I wanted to support the charity as I see first-hand every day what amazing work we do and what a difference we make to disabled and older people in the East of England.”
Jeff, who also competed the Ben Nevis Challenge for Papworth Trust last year, is taking part in the charity’s ‘100 Care Miles’ fundraising challenge – one of many initiatives planned to commemorate its big anniversary next year.
