Four city practices – Cornford House Surgery, Huntingdon Road Surgery, Lensfield Medical Practice and Newnham Walk Surgery – are getting long-overdue upgrades thanks to the biggest investment in GP facilities in five years.
Outdated buildings have stopped GPs from seeing more patients, but now over 1,000 surgeries nationwide will get the space they need to cut waits and boost care – part of Labour’s plan to fix the NHS starting with its front door.
Funded by Labour’s £102m investment, the upgrades will start rolling out this summer.
Cambridge MP Daniel Zeichner said: "The dreaded 8am scramble for an appointment is finally being tackled. This is Labour delivering for Cambridge and keeping our promise to rebuild the NHS from the ground up."
Health Secretary Wes Streeting added: It will be a long road, but this government is putting in the work to fix our NHS and make it fit for the future.”
