Land Rover BAR defend Portsmouth title to lead World Series

Under glowering skies but in perfect racing conditions, Land Rover BAR has defended its America's Cup World Series Portsmouth title. The victory – in front of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – took the team into an overall series lead going into the final two events of the season.

Huge crowds watched a big win in the challenge to bring the Cup home to Britain. Land Rover BAR placed first in practice, first on Saturday and second on Super Sunday (when points count double), to finish number one overall and win the Portsmouth America's Cup World Series, for an unprecedented second time. This phenomenal result for newcomers Land Rover BAR, moves the team up the leader board ahead of defenders Oracle Team USA and key competitor Emirates Team NZ, into overall pole position.

PA started working with Ben Ainslie in 2014 and launched a formal partnership in 2015. PA's role is to lead their Technical Innovation Group (TIG), a world class multi-disciplinary research and development team, which looks outside the world of sailing for technologies which can give the team a winning edge come race day. So far, PA has helped deliver technological improvements in aerodynamics, telecommunications, analytics and a virtual chase boat which allows the support crew to track the boat's performance from mission control, back on shore.

As well as enjoying the spectacular performance of “our team”, PA used the event as an opportunity to build relationships with senior clients and prospects from the military, government and the private sector, who attended as guests.
