The company eclipsed the 30 million mark in 2014 and to date has shipped 32 million FOCUS residential meters to utilities in North America and other ANSI meter markets. The E130 FOCUS AL, introduced in 2003, was one of the first residential meters to provide voltage information and has since sold 14 million units. In 2007, Landis+Gyr introduced the popular E350 FOCUS AX-SD with integrated service switch and this model has sold more than 17 million units.
“The FOCUS line of meters complement advanced metering and smart grid technology with easy integration of communication modules and a wide variety of accessible metering values. Over time, the FOCUS platform became the first choice for many of the largest smart metering deployments in the country,” said Steve Schamber, Vice President of Product Management at Landis+Gyr. “The features and data available in the FOCUS AX rival those of commercial meters from a decade ago. And we continue to improve upon the design based on customer feedback and requests.”
FOCUS meters provide a single solution to manage demand, time of use, load profile and reactive power. In addition to billing and distribution management, utilities are using this functionality for power quality monitoring and load management programs. Utility payment programs requiring remote switching capabilities continue to drive demand for the FOCUS AX-SD, which comes equipped with an industry-leading cam activated service switch. And with 8 channels of load profile data, the meter also satisfies an increasing demand for advanced analytics.
