Landis+Gyr, the global leader in smart metering, today announced that it will realign certain executive responsibilities and create new roles to adapt the organization to the increasing challenges of meeting customer requirements globally.

“As our industry evolves, so must our organization. I am convinced these personnel moves are essential, we must plan and execute the operational and strategic process improvements which will be necessary for Landis+Gyr to succeed in winning future global business, while simultaneously leveraging the full potential we have as the industry’s leader,” said Andreas Umbach, Landis+Gyr’s President and CEO.

Effective January 1, 2014, Richard Mora will leave his current job as Executive Vice President, Americas and will be promoted to the newly created position of Chief Operating Officer based in Zug.

“Under Richard’s leadership our Americas regional businesses have outpaced the growth rates for the rest of the industry and have provided Landis+Gyr with a solid foundation of consistent and first-rate financial performance. In his new assignment, all of the regions will report to Richard and he will also coordinate both research and development and quality efforts,” added Mr. Umbach.

The company also announced the creation of a second new Zug-based executive position, Chief Strategy Officer, reporting to the CEO. This position is being created to expand corporate and business growth strategies, including development and implementation of firm wide strategic initiatives including partnerships, ventures and innovative models for new business opportunities internationally.

Filling this role will be Roger Amhof. Roger, a Swiss citizen, will join Landis+Gyr on April 1, 2014 from Ernst & Young, where he has been a partner in the Zurich office for nearly a decade. As such, he has been a much sought after consultant who led dozens of key accounts’ strategic plan development efforts across various industries throughout the world, as well as managing major transformation projects for both clients and Ernst & Young itself.

“Roger has been a trusted advisor of Landis+Gyr’s for many years. We are extremely fortunate to have him bring his expertise to the company full time, and we look forward to him driving our global strategy efforts during this exciting time in our history,” commented Mr. Umbach.

Prasanna Venkatesan will become the Executive Vice President for the Americas region. Prasanna was most recently Landis+Gyr’s Senior Vice President and General Manager for the Systems and Services business in North America. In his current assignment Prasanna has been responsible for some of the largest smart metering deployments in the company, including both Oncor and Hydro Quebec, while also being responsible for the managed service business in the US.

“Prasanna has been a key player in our regional operations for many years. He has been the lead executive facing our customers for some of the most demanding projects we have undertaken to date. I have every confidence that he will not miss a beat in this new role.” Andreas Umbach concluded.
