Lawyers show their true colours on International Women’s Day

A century after women were first allowed to practise law, the predominantly female staff at Top 50 law firm Penningtons Manches in Cambridge celebrated International Women’s Day.

All in the office were invited to dress in white or purple and join others around the world recognising this year’s campaign theme of #BalanceforBetter. Says partner Helen Drayton: “We take this day every year to celebrate women's achievements while reminding ourselves that we are still a long way away from being a society with true gender equality. Given the make up of our team in Cambridge we are also celebrating the fact that Penningtons Manches is somewhere that women can, and do, thrive.”

In addition to International Women’s Day on 8 March, Penningtons Manches is marking 100 years since women were able to practise law when the Sex Disqualification Removal Act 1919 received Royal Assent.
