Grahame Nix originally joined the LEP as its Chairman back in November 2012 before becoming Chief Executive in August 2013. He has developed the LEP, building a strong team, and raising its profile in the business and wider community. After successfully securing a wide range of investments for the LEP, Grahame has taken the decision to take on a new challenge.
Grahame Nix said: “I am immensely proud of the achievements of the LEP during my time as both Chairman and Chief Executive. From being part of the £1 billion City Deal for the Greater Cambridge area through to our £21 million Growth Deal, we have enabled significant investment to support economic growth across the LEP area. Roads and buildings have been built, businesses have received millions of pounds worth of investment to help them grow and create new jobs, and a wide range of other projects are well underway. The role of the LEP continues to evolve and I believe that it is now the right time for me to move on to a new role and pass the leadership of the LEP on to a new Chief Executive.”
He added: “I would also like to say how grateful I have been for the help and support of the LEP team and colleagues in the business, local government and wider community.”
Director of Enterprise and Skills, Neil Darwin, will become Interim Chief Executive as of 1st October 2014 whilst the recruitment of a new Chief Executive takes place.
Mark Reeve, Chairman of the LEP, said: “On behalf of the LEP Board, I would like to thank Grahame for his hard work and dedication during his time at the LEP and wish him all the best for the future. We have made significant progress over the last two years, and with our Strategic Economic Plan we can continue to move forward with our plans and deliver significant economic growth across our area. I know that the LEP will be in capable hands with Neil Darwin at the helm as we work through the process to find a new Chief Executive.”
