Leading flare gas metering company relocates to Cambridge to deliver new products

Fluenta, a global leader in ultrasonic measurement and monitoring technology for the oil and gas industry, today announces a significant new investment in the UK. The Norwegian-based company, part of $400 million company Vista Holding Group, is moving its headquarters to Cambridge and vastly expanding its range of products.

•             Fluenta opens global headquarters in Cambridge, United Kingdom

•             Plans to miniaturise gas and liquid monitoring technology

To date the company’s success has been in the oil and gas industry, providing highly accurate and effective products for monitoring flare gas emissions at oil, gas and chemical facilities.  The company is now planning to extend its portfolio to provide sensing, monitoring and measurement of the flow of any gas or liquid through any pipe.  Developments in miniaturisation of ultrasonic monitoring will enable the company to achieve this and it has chosen Cambridge as global headquarters.

Sigurd Aase, CEO of Fluenta, comments: “Cambridge is one of only two places in the world where our company can find and secure the talent we need to succeed.  The other is Stanford in California, where we already have a research relationship.  Our decision to locate our HQ in Cambridge will allow us to grow quickly from the talent in the region.”

With more than 30 years’ expertise in flare gas metering – measuring the volume and composition of gas burned by an oil or chemical plant – Fluenta’s products have been deployed more than 1500 times with leading companies such as BP, DuPont, Exxon, PEMEX, Petrobras, Siemens, Shell, Statoil and Total.  The company is now developing smaller ultrasonic measurement tools to monitor gas and liquid flow through any pipe.

The new headquarters in Cambridge, based at Cambourne Business Park, is expected to see a rapid growth in people up to more than 100 by the end of 2017.
