Leicester 'Summer School' explores development of safety-critical computer systems

SafeTTy Systems Ltd will run a two-week training and certification programme this summer that explores the development of reliable embedded systems.

It will present a Summer School programme between July and September 2014, in central Leicester.

Engineers and engineering managers will be able to join the Summer School programme for two weeks over this period and learn how to develop reliable embedded systems, using new techniques based on “time-triggered architectures”, by the highly-experienced team from SafeTTy Systems Ltd.

Dr Michael J. Pont, Managing Director of SafeTTy Systems Ltd (pictured) , says: “Most people are familiar with desktop computers, laptop computers and other computing devices such as mobile phones.  What people don’t always realise is that there are many, many more computer processors all around us, ‘embedded’ inside everyday items.  These ‘embedded systems’ control our cars, aircraft, medical equipment, as well as our fridges and washing machines.

“If the embedded computer system in your car fails, the vehicle may accelerate out of control; if the embedded system in your washing machine fails, a child may be able to open the door while the drum is still spinning.

“During the Summer School we’ll be teaching people how to develop safe embedded systems that will avoid such problems”.

The Summer School will take place in central Leicester from July to September 2014.

Bookings are now being accepted for the 72 places on the programme: SafeTTy Systems has already received enquiries from as far away as Argentina.
