The ‘Let’s Go Girls’ Festival at Chesterton Sports Centre on Monday 25 September has been organised by Cambridge City Council and local charity Living Sport, and gives women and girls aged 16 and over the chance to try a variety of different fitness activities in a friendly, supportive atmosphere.
Taster sessions available during the evening will include boxercise, studio cycling, ((BOUNCE)) – workouts using mini trampolines – aqua aerobics and pilates. There will also be nutrition workshops, sports massages, body analysis consultations and refreshments available.
The Let’s Go Girls Festival will also see the launch of ‘Let’s Get Moving Cambridgeshire’, a new campaign with Cambridgeshire County Council aimed at increasing people’s levels of activity and improving health across the county, by raising awareness of fitness-related opportunities.
Cllr Richard Johnson, Executive Councillor for Communities, said: “The Let’s Go Girls Festival offers a great opportunity for women and girls over 16 to sample some fun and exciting activities, which they then may wish to continue with.
“Being more active is a simple way to improve physical and mental wellbeing. As a council we are committed to helping people make the most of the many health and fitness-related opportunities that are available in the city and overcome any barriers that may be preventing them from being more active.”
The Let’s Go Festival takes place on Monday 25 September from 6pm-9pm at Chesterton Sports Centre, Chesterton Community College, Gilbert Road. Registration for sessions opens at 5.30pm with each session lasting 25 minutes.
