The Juice Bar will offer local entrepreneurs the opportunity to learn crucial skills for the digital age, from creating a website to marketing their business online.
- Experts from Google come to Cambridge on Friday 3rd October to give local businesses a masterclass in using the internet to turbo-charge their growth.
- The Google team will set up a pop-up Juice Bar co-hosted by local MP Julian Huppert.
- Local businesses can sign up to attend here: https://events.withgoogle.com/google-juice-bar-cambridge/
The workshop is part of Google’s drive to help small businesses grow using the Internet and to help business owners harness new ‘e-skills.’ So far over 250,000 businesses have been helped through the programme. A recent study by the Boston Consulting Group has shown that businesses who have a presence online grow four to eight times faster than those who do not.
By encouraging and supporting a variety of businesses to use the Internet effectively, from entrepreneurs and one-man-band start-ups, to larger companies, these workshops aim to boost the country’s Internet economy.
Julian Huppert, MP for Cambridge said:
“It’s important that as many businesses as possible in Cambridge make the most of the opportunities the internet offers them. Businesses with a strong online presence grow faster, supporting the local economy and creating jobs. I’m encouraging as many local companies and aspiring entrepreneurs as possible to sign up to this session and take advantage of the advice on offer from Google’s experts.”
The Juice Bar has been designed to support and advise businesses regardless of their technical expertise – from complete tech novices creating their first website, through to improving an existing website and online marketing.
Any kind of business can take advantage of the workshop and benefit from making the most of the Internet. Research from NIESR (The National Institute of Economic and Social Research) recently estimated that the Cambridge travel to work area already has over 2,600 digital companies.
Eileen Naughton, Managing Director, Google UK, said:
“The internet is playing an important role in helping companies of all sizes across the Cambridge area reach new customers, manage marketing expenses and use data-driven consumer insights to help their business grow. Our goal at Google is to show UK businesses how easy it is to get online and start reaping the rewards of the digital economy. We hope that businesses in and around Cambridge will take advantage of these free digital training sessions.”
Business owners in the area can sign up for the free consultations and workshops at the Homerton Conference Centre on Friday 3rd October at 12 noon.
