Local charity appoints Head of Properties and Green Spaces

Philip has been appointed to help maximise the amenity of CambridgePPF’s property portfolio, which includes 110 acres of woodland and chalk grassland at Wandlebury Country Park; Coton Countryside Reserve; The Leper Chapel on Newmarket Road; plus Hinxton and Bourn Mills.

Working with the organisation’s staff and army of volunteers, Philip will help fine-tune the recreational and educational opportunities that each of the charity’s sites present, ensuring the delivery of a first class service for visitors.

Philip returns to Cambridge to take up the post after ten years in Yorkshire where he worked for Leeds City Council and a local education trust. Before moving up north Philip held roles at Cambridgeshire County Council. From 1996 to 2000 he was Manager of Outdoor Education Services for schools and the community – a role that gave him responsibility for Grafham Water Centre. Subsequently he was the local authority’s Organisational Change Manager where he managed the modernisation programme within the Education, Libraries and Heritage Directorate.

Commenting Philip said: “I was attracted to the role at CambridgePPF because it involves my two passions: historic buildings and the countryside. I‘ve been lucky enough to look after some remarkable arts and crafts properties and estates during my career – and this role is no exception. The charity owns some wonderful assets that already offer a rich programme of environmental education and recreational events for local people of all ages. I look forward to working with the team to expand what we can offer to the people of Cambridgeshire – which is such a great place to live.”
