Local entrepreneur set to give great advice to boost global sales for Cambridgeshire firms

Cambridgeshire-based entrepreneur and venture capitalist, Dr Hermann Hauser - a founder and Director of the Cambridge Network - is encouraging small and medium businesses to go global at a flagship event next week, backed by the GREAT campaign.

Places are still available at the event at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford, Cambridgeshire, on September 10, for companies interested in exporting their goods and services to the creative, retail, luxury and food and drink sectors.

Dr Hauser will speak at the event and give his expert advice on exporting gained through founding or co-founding companies across a wide range of technology sectors which have gone on to have overseas success. These include locally-based companies such as Amadeus Capital Partners Ltd and ARM Holdings plc.

The event will kick-off a series of roadshows travelling around the country during September promoting UK Trade & Investment's GREAT Weeks. The GREAT campaign is the biggest ever integrated Government international marketing campaign, driving inward investment and tourism to the UK and increased exports from the UK. Created to maximise the economic benefits of London’s Olympic and Paralympic Games, it is showcasing the very best of the UK - from business to sport to culture - across the globe.

Dr Hauser, who co-founded Amadeus Capital Partners in 1997, said: "The GREAT Weeks are a fantastic series of events which I fully support, and which I believe every UK business should embrace. UK Trade & Investment is offering the opportunity of a life time. This should not be missed. "

Trade and Investment Minister Lord Green said: “Increasing the number of UK businesses who sell overseas is a fundamental building block of the government’s plan for growth. Worldwide there is a growing appetite and appreciation for British goods and services and awareness of Brand GB remains very high following the success of London 2012 and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

“The GREAT Weeks series is designed to capitalise on this by using UKTI’s global network to put companies in front of potential customers in fast growing markets. The campaign will provide a powerful platform for the retail, luxury, food, drink and creative industries to showcase their value in new markets and assist them to grow their businesses.”

The GREAT Weeks series will also host a series of trade missions in overseas markets including Vietnam, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Brazil, UAE, Hong Kong and Macao, China and the USA in 2013 and 2014. UKTI will offer businesses participating in the missions customised programmes as well as the opportunity to meet potential investors, buyers and suppliers.
