Looking for talent? Take part in Cambridge Network's next Virtual Jobs Fair

Although the pandemic has caused upheaval for many organisations, employers in and around Cambridge are still recruiting. Participating in Cambridge Network's Virtual Jobs Fair next month will help to keep your company in the public eye, even if you are not actively looking for talent right now.

"It's a fact that the Covid-19 crisis has meant a significant reduction in staffing demands. Our Recruitment Gateway jobs pages mirrored this decline in job postings, as many member companies were faced with uncertainty," says Claire Angus, who heads the Network's recruitment team.

"We set out to help, first by pulling together a page of opportunities from local and national businesses, mainly in the supply chain, NHS and volunteer sectors  –  'Employment during coronavirus' –  which has attracted a great deal of interest.

"Then, acknowledging that it would be some time before we could hold the kind of large face-to-face recruitment events we've held in the past, we turned to the virtual world. In May, we set up an alternative Jobs Fair – a day of online sessions from local employer organisations and careers experts.

"We had 400 candidates sign up for that and the feedback has been great [see brief testimonial videos below], as individuals were able to find out about the companies' vacancies, technology and company culture without having to leave home. What is more, we had job seekers taking part from all over the UK and overseas, saving everyone time, money, and hassle.

"As the lockdown eases and businesses begin to reopen, we are finding the recruitment market starting to ramp up, so we are planning another virtual event," adds Claire.

Planning is underway for this event to take place on Thursday 16th July, with two webinar sessions during the day.  Employer organisations are encouraged to take part–  please contact Claire Angus to find out more and discuss how you can get involved.
