Specialist marketing job disciplines such as internet (8.9% increase), PR (1.8% increase) and market research (1.3% increase) saw the biggest budget increases. The digital world’s dominance in the marketing arena does not seem to be waning and in order to grow companies are still dedicating a large proportion of their budgets to this type of marketing.
“An upturn in business confidence and corresponding increase in budgeted marketing spend for 2013 augurs well for the wider economy,” commented Chris Williamson, chief economist at Markit and complier of the Bellwether report.
The Bellwether report’s findings of an improvement in business confidence have also been echoed by the Barclays Job Creation Survey. The Job Creation Survey was also released this week and the survey found that 56% of companies in the media sector will be hiring new employees and 84% of those companies are not looking to make any redundancies this year.
